Wrong forum, I know but I need help and I am at work, so I have to be quick!

Where can I buy white butter? Or dye free butter?

My dh is doing a cake this weekend and they have requested white white butter cream. I know when I make it for him using regular butter, it looks slightly off white.

Any ideas? He went to Nutters and they had organic butter but it wasn't white in colour.

Why not use a butter cream recipe that uses vegetable shortening instead of butter, Wilton has a few.  Just a thought.  It's white, white.  I used Wilton's snow white buttercream icing and it was pretty darn white.

I printed the recipe and will use that if I can't find anything else, I just hate shortening, lol.

I guess it doesn't matter what I like though, lol.

I just read a suggestion to add the tiniest amount of purple colouring, it cancels out the yellow.  Can't vouch for that, though! 

I can ask my pastry chef sister if you like!

i find that reg vanila colours the icing more then the butter does...

Well as you said the butter is yellow, so really there is no way to make a true pure white buttercream. For pure white you have to make a shortening based decorators icing instead.

1/2 butter 1/2 cream cheese makes an almost pure white icing. Just make certain you are using pure butter and not margarine or a "buttery spread" both of which are darker yellow than pure butter

I was just thinking that about the vanilla myself. I have the best buttercream recipe, maybe I should just add clear vanilla extract to that and see what happens!

Or dh should just do his own baking for his own cake decorating, lol.
