Hi![]()
I wear a snoring appliance but need a new one. The range I have found is from $450-$1700. Mine was around $350 and worked fine, but was obviously one of the cheapest ones. The dentist I got it from is no longer in the area, and I'm just wondering what to look for. Mine has a plastic hinge that snaps off, and I took it to my dentist and he fixed it, but I'm not sure how long it will last. Certainly don't want to spend $1700. My dentist makes the SomnoDent for $1500 which I still fill is a lot. We have insurance but I'm not sure if it is covered. If it is it is at 60%.
I went to a dentist out of town quite a few years ago as no one made them in my area. They sent a pre-determination to my insurance company and they wouldn't cover it. When I had the one made in town when I finally found someone, I guess they sent it to the insurance company and they covered 60% so I don't know why they covered it. A friend of mine has the same coverage and she goes to a different dentist and they sent a pre-determination through and the insurance wouldn't cover it. I gave her the same codes as well.
Thanks for any suggestions![]()

And I was wondering if that was a Swedish style stove....
Sorry can't help you with that. Good luck, though.

Hi![]()
lol Littleblack dress
Yes had a sleep test done and I don't have sleep apnea, just snoring. I have to take a sleeping pill so I'm pretty sure it's what is putting me into the deep sleep, thus causing the snoring. They appliance works great and just found out from a friend there is a 300% markup for these different appliances.
Thanks![]()

Hi![]()
Hope I can find a deal as well. Certainly won't be $1500. My gf has her own indepdendent hygiene practice and I would go to one of these way over going to a general practitioner. You aren't rushed, quality work and cheaper. Such a relaxed atmosphere. It certainly helps out people who don't have insurance. Of course the dentists don't like that the hygienists have been allowed to do this.

Hi![]()
He probably had sleep apnea. I've decided I'm going to have another sleep test done. My husband says I snore sometimes with my appliance, so either I need a different kind or I could have sleep apnea now. I'm so tired when I wake up, and don't feel rested, so worth a shot.

Hi![]()
That's what my husband said he figured that's why when people get older they sleep in separate rooms, lol. A friend of mine said that many people have some sort of sleeping problem and could be sleep apnea, but never get checked out. As we age, weight gain, etc. chances are we need some type of appliance. I'm thinking that my husband and I both need a getaway to the sleep clinic, lol, if I can convince him
She said it should be checked out every 2 years. I went twice because of snoring. First time they said I didn't snore, had restless legs, been on meds for over 7 years. Then I went back to my dr. and said I snore, my husband keeps telling me this. Went back, this time yep I snore, so ended up with a snoring appliance. Being so tired lately so now it could have gone to sleep apnea, so worth getting checked out. I'm just hoping I can go in town now that we have a sleep clinic, but they will probably have to send me back to the other one to compare, ugh.
