My 5 year old son has Microcephaly, Adhd and has a Moderate Intellectual disibilty. He's 5 years old but functions as a 2-3 year old. He's in speech therapy full time. He's on 20 mg of Biphentin as well. I have a meeting this week with the principal and school psychologist. He was approved funding to have a full time TA with him at all times during school. I'm just so scared because I have no idea what to expect. He has anxiety problems as well, and when he's around a lot of people he doesn't know how to handle it. Sometimes he even hits. He's been in daycare full time the past 3 years, which has helped a lot, he is use to being around kids.
The school psychologist has assured me that everything will be ok, that the school has the resources to help my son but as a mother I'm so worried. He's not like kids his age, his language is very delayed and he's very impulsive. Can anyone give me an help on what to expect? Anyone share their experiences? Thanks!

BUT he has been in daycare and its going to be a lot like that for him.
I know your scared but try not to let him see it. maybe talk about how fun it will be but don't over do it.
Hang in there mom, I remember it too the first time my son was taken crying from my arms to go to school.

We're not looking at school for a couple of years, but maybe your little champ may end up surprising you and take to it right away! Hang in there!
